Lunar New Year Collection
As a first-generation Chinese-Canadian who grew up pretty disconnected with my own culture, I felt it was really important to reconnect with my roots and give back to Chinese community here in Vancouver. 50% of the profits from this collection of art prints were donated to two local organizations supporting Chinatown: 1) Chinatown Cares - a grocery delivery program organized by the Hua Foundation to provide isolated seniors in Chinatown with culturally appropriate groceries, and 2) the Chinatown Foundation - a non-profit committed to the revitalization and preservation of Vancouver’s historic Chinatown. Together in collaboration with tattoo artist Bethany Wat, we were able to donate a total of $1,200!
This set of prints was inspired by mundane, everyday food and items in my grandparents’ homes and gardens, using unexpected colour combinations.
